We are an independent reference, not a building department.

We can help with
- Errors or outdated information on a page (see corrections).
- Suggestions for cities, projects or topics to cover.
- Questions about how we source and verify information.
We cannot help with
- Permit applications, inspections, fees or the status of a permit: contact the building department. Our department finder gives the office and phone for each city we cover.
- Whether your specific project is exempt: ask the building department, which can interpret its own code.
- Legal advice.
